Heart disease prevention is designed to reduce the risk of Cardiovascular disease. There are many risk factors for heart diseases like age, sex, smoking, physical inactivity, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet, obesity, genetic predisposition and family history of cardiovascular disease, raised blood pressure, raised blood sugar, raised blood cholesterol, undiagnosed celiac disease, psychosocial factors, poverty and low educational status, air pollution, and poor sleep. Some forms of screening include ECG, Echocardiography, Myocardial perfusion imaging, Cardiac stress testing, Lipid testing. Up to 90% of cardiovascular disease may be preventable if established risk factors are avoided.
